Important Notice Regarding Apple Mercenary Spyware Attack
We are writing to inform you of a potential security threat that may impact your Apple device
Apple has identified a sophisticated cyberattack campaign utilizing mercenary spyware. These attacks are complex and highly targeted. They are mostly directed towards individuals who are journalists, activists, politicians, or diplomats. If Apple detects activity consistent with a mercenary spyware attack, they will notify the targeted users in two ways:
A Threat Notification is displayed at the top of the page after the user signs into https://appleid.apple.com/.
Apple sends an email and iMessage notification to the email addresses and phone numbers associated with the user’s Apple ID.
These notifications provide additional steps that notified users can take to help protect their devices, including enabling Lockdown Mode.
If you have not been notified by Apple, then they have not detected that your Apple account has been targeted.
What you can do to help:
If you suspect your device may be compromised, Apple recommends taking the following steps:
Update your Apple device to the latest software version. This often includes security patches that address vulnerabilities exploited by attackers.
Change your Apple ID password and enable two-factor authentication for an extra layer of protection.
